Off the Grid

GenWex Presents

Programs developed by and for the Wexner Center's young patrons' group.

Sat, Apr 14, 2012 9 PM

Featuring DJ sets by
DJ Mike Simonetti (Italians Do It Better)
DJ Patrick (O-GEE)
DJ Brooke LaValley (old soul/funk/Motown)
Visuals + DJ set by Rainer (DIG!)

The party of the year returns—in 3D! Off the Grid fills three different dimensions of the center all night: our café, Mershon Auditorium lobby, and our black box performance space. Just like last-year’s sold-out party, this version promises to move your senses through time and space—and far off the grid—all night long. Nonstop dance sets from New York City legend Mike Simonetti, DJ Patrick, DJ Brooke LaValley, and Rainer will keep you moving. So will the tantalizing aromas and tastes of delicious eats from over a dozen Dine Originals Columbus restaurants.

If art keeps you moving, you can wander through two stunning exhibitions—David Smith: Cubes and Anarchy and Sarah Morris: Points on a Line—before they close on April 15. Or take a break to watch My Own Private River, a new video project by actor and artist James Franco based on noted director Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho, in the Box video screening space. In the lower lobby and café, you'll experience a colorful installation by residency artist Ernst Caramelle.

The VIP pre-party in Mershon lobby starts the evening at 7:30 PM, with first crack at food, drink (plus a couple of complimentary ones), and making the scene. Or—new this year—you can come early and get in the mood at a screening of a cult classic, 1968’s BOOM! at 7 PM.

Don't get shut out: suit up and buy your tickets for what promises to be the year's most photographed and talked about party. All proceeds once again benefit Wexner Center educational programming.

Your ticket includes food all evening from the following Dine Originals Columbus restaurants:

Bodega
Barcelona Restaurant & Bar
Barrio Restaurant
Black Creek Bistro
Due Amici
G Michael's Bistro
Rigsby's Kitchen
Spinelli's Deli
Surly Girl Saloon
Tasi Café
Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails
Trattoria Roma

Continue to support the Wex Education Programs at the event by purchasing raffle tickets for $10 each or six for $50. Prizes include two round-trip tickets on American Airlines, a private tour and tasting with the owner of Middle West Spirits for up to ten people, and a gift certificates for House Wine and the Refectory.

THIS EVENT IS 21 AND OVER.
