Ohio Shorts

Celebrating our 20th anniversary with new short works by filmmakers and video artists from across the Buckeye state.

Fri, Mar 27, 2009

Encourage your students to submit their short films or videos to the Youth Division of our annual Ohio Short Film & Video Showcase. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 27, 2009.

The Youth Division of the showcase provides Ohio's independent young media artists with the opportunity to show their work in a theatrical setting before a public audience. Prizes are awarded to the top youth-produced videos. (The images you see here are from pieces screened last year.)

This year, up to five finalists from the Youth Division will be selected to receive a stipend from Cardinal Health, Inc. to produce a public service announcement on the issue of prescription drug abuse. Finalists will receive a $1,000 stipend from Cardinal Health (and ongoing technical support from the Wexner Center) for participating in a preliminary strategy session and creating their 15-second spot. The top finalist will be awarded an additional $2,500 from Cardinal Health, and the piece may be broadcast.

Pieces must be independently produced, no longer than 10 minutes, and produced in Ohio within the last 18 months by an artist who will be 18 years of age or younger at the time of the showcase screening on May 9.

Follow the directions in the Call for Entries announcement and completely fill out the Entry Form, both available at the bottom of this page.
Please test your DVD in a commercial DVD player to ensure it works before mailing it to us.

Call (614) 292-4229 or e-mail with questions or for additional information.

Ohio Short Film & Video Showcase screenings take place on Saturday, May 9, at the Wexner Center Film/Video Theater with the Youth Division program at 4:30 PM and the evening screening (of works by filmmakers age 18 and up) at 7 PM.
