“Seeing Jeff Mangum live was authentic, raw, powerful. In short, it was everything we wouldn’t even have dared to imagine.”—Consequence of Sound
Indie rock icon Jeff Mangum, of Neutral Milk Hotel renown, has recently emerged from a decade-plus retreat from the public eye to thrill devoted fans with a series of live concerts. His surprise appearance at the Wexner Center in 2008 during the encore of the Elephant 6 Holiday Surprise Tour lit up the blogs. Now you can see him take center stage for a solo show featuring many of his most revered songs from the cult classic album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. In concert, Mangum performs these cryptic compositions—inspired by the diaries of Anne Frank and carnival freaks—with charged intensity, as if they're a matter of life and death. With riveting emotional impact and evocative lyrics, Mangum’s timeless songs continue to strike deeply resonant chords with his flock of followers. Be sure to get your tickets early for this major highlight of our Next@Wex series.
Jeff Mangum has invited Tall Firs and Briars of North America to open the evening with sets of their own experimental folk sounds.
Tickets for this event are available beginning Thursday, Nov. 15, only on ticketmaster.com, at Ticketmaster outlets, or at the CAPA ticket office.
Please note: Jeff Mangum requests absolutely no photography or recording at this concert. Please respect his wishes.
