See the world premiere of BalletMet's new interpretation of Stravinsky's Firebird, plus collaborations with Ohio State's esteemed Department of Dance.

Come early for a Preperformance Talk on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening, or for a Ballet Sneak Peek family program on Sunday. See the related event links below for details.

Presented by BalletMet Columbus in association with the Wexner Center. Renowned choreographer Stanton Welch, BalletMet's artistic associate, turns his attention to one of ballet's masterpieces, Firebird, in which a heroic prince finds true love with the help of a mystical bird-like creature. BalletMet's world premiere of Firebird will feature the choreographer's unique dance vocabulary set to Stravinsky's enchanting orchestral suite, as well as breathtaking costume and set design.

The BalletMet dancers are then joined by dancers from Ohio State's esteemed Department of Dance for guest choreographer Doug Varone's version of the radical Rite of Spring. You'll also see Ohio State professor John Giffin's reconstruction with the dance department of Vaslav Nijinsky's Afternoon of a Faun, which launched the dance legend's career and fanned the flames of controversy in 1912 Paris with its visions of pagan sensuality.
