The dark-toned experimental synth pop of Cold Cave is quickly garnering new fans with its driving industrial beats and sweeping melodic sense. Icy-edged precursors like Human League, New Order, and Throbbing Gristle echo in their sound while Cold Cave find their own ways into the heart of darkness with lyrics juxtaposing images of beauty with harsh, raw vistas. Expect to hear many of Cold Cave's latest noir paeans drawn from Cherish the Light Years, their recently released CD for the Matador label. The recording is already being tipped as a breakout for the group.

Local band alt (Keith Novicki and Ryan Shafer) open for Cold Cave. The guitar-drum duo perform mostly improvised music in the Krautrock tradition, building layered songs out of circular rhythms, melodic fragments, distorted drones, and walls of delay.
