"Epic multifrequency groove-riding super-rock that has to be heard to be felt to be believed to be appreciated."—LA Weekly

Flag-bearers for modern psychedelia, Bay Area ensemble Comets on Fire blast out intense, slow-burning electric maelstroms that distill the best parts of the Stooges, Pink Floyd, and Blue Cheer, but with a distinctly contemporary twist. Opening acts are Growing, Columbus's own 16 Bitch Pile Up, and Burning Star Core.

Now a five-piece band with the addition of Six Organs of Admittance guitarist Ben Chasny, Comets on Fire feature the core group of Ethan Miller (guitar, vocals), Noel Harmonson (analog electronics, echoplex), Ben Flashman (bass), and Utrillo Belcher (drums). They are finally touring beyond the West Coast, much to the delight of their cult of fans. Look for a new release to follow up Blue Cathedral, their most recent Sub Pop CD, which cemented the band's international reputation.

Openers are drone rockers Growing, of Kranky Records; Burning Star Core, known for 2002's A Brighter Summer Day on vinyl; and Columbus's own friends of cacophony, 16 Bitch Pile Up, whose shows are "the equivalent of being caught in a sonic windstorm" (Alive).

Please note: this is a SRO show.
