Dave Douglas New Quintet

Thu, May 9, 2002 8 PM

Ever-inventive composer and jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas returns to the Wexner Center with an all new lineup in support of his latest RCA Bluebird release, The Infinite.
On hand for tonight's performance are Uri Caine on Fender Rhodes piano (its 1970s fusion sound is making a big comeback), Rick Margitza on sax, James Genus on bass, and drummer Clarence Penn.

With this stellar group Dave Douglas amply demonstrates his preeminence on today's scene with smartly crafted, melodically rich originals, as well as surprising covers of Rufus Wainwright, Mary J. Blige, and Bjork.

Belle and Sebastian

Belle and Sebastian headline Next@Wex Fest at the LC Outdoor Pavilion on June 14; the lineup also includes Jungle and Son Lux.
