"I've gone rap free in 2006."--RJD2

Don't delay in getting your tickets early for the return of Columbus's own Rjd2 with his all new band. That's right, band. And what a band...lining up next to RJ's turntables are Columbus all-stars Derek DiCenzo, Happy Chichester (RC Mob), and Sam Brown (Gaunt, New Bomb Turks, The Sun). It'll be a packed house when he launches his next tour here in conjunction with a new CD where he plays all the instruments: The Third Hand, for his new label, indie imprint XL. As RJ says about his new direction, "Rhythmically, I feel like there's a continuous thread that would run throughout everything that I've done, and I'd like to think the new stuff still has that kind of emphasis on the rhythm section and groove. And it's all live. There's, like, one or two samples on there. I had the idea of making a group where there's a drummer and then me and then two other people. I need two people that can play guitar and keyboards and sing harmony lines and I want an overload of keyboards and synthesizers on certain songs. I feel like arranging a live show will be fun."

Opening the show, hip-hop maverick Busdriver from LA supplies a set of off-kilter thrills after a solo turn from local fave Happy Chichester.
