“In a year that's already been rather special for great albums, Merrill Garbus may well have produced the finest record of the year.”—musicOMH.com

The quote above may seem like total hype, but it is completely aligned with the end-of-the-year assessments of many indie followers who succumbed to the unique charms of this band, led by Merrill Garbus, and Whokill, their most recent CD release. Fierce, feral, and most of all big fun, tUnE-yArDs stir it up with strains of cosmic hip hop, riot grrrl punk, hoodoo blues, leftfield pop, African juju, gospel, and whatever else Garbus deems propulsive enough to get her groove on.

Live, they really deliver the goods. As NPR reported, “What was even more visually compelling, though, was watching Garbus and her band move. They hopped and spun in unison, each playing their instruments as if there were no other task as serious or as satisfying. The energy onstage was friendly, erratic and fun—it felt at times like Peter Pan and his Lost Boys had invited us over to join their fold and fray.” Join in on the action when tUnE-yArDs make their Columbus debut at the Wex.

The intricate yet hand-hewn psychedelic sounds of Delicate Steve, led by guitarist Steve Marion, provide the perfect opening set for the evening.
