"A compelling and striking presence...each dance is a personal journey."--Metro

Mantsoe embeds traditional African dance forms within an expressive contemporary approach drawn from modern, jazz, ballet, and other dance traditions from around the globe.
South Africa's Vincent Sekwati Mantsoe is a leading figure in today's renaissance of contemporary dance from Africa. Like Salia n' Seydou, the striking duo who so impressed dance audiences here in 2001, Mantsoe clearly embeds traditional African dance forms within an expressive contemporary approach drawn from modern, jazz, ballet, and other dance traditions from around the globe.

In this powerful solo program, Mantsoe demonstrates the fluid dynamism and driving physical force that underscore the transformative miracles he conjures in various character guises.

His international reputation is soaring with glowing press notices: Toronto's Globe and Mail called him "a charismatic performer" whose "every gesture and movement resonates with meaning."

Presented by the Wexner Center in association with The King Arts Complex.
