Introducing Free Gallery Admission

After spending $15.8 million to renovate its landmark building, the Wexner Center for the Arts is making yet another improvement: free gallery admission.

Beginning Sunday, October 30, 2005, the center’s newly luminous exhibition spaces will be open without charge, offering everyone the opportunity to enjoy the world-famous architecture and the enticing, surprising inaugural exhibition, Part Object Part Sculpture. The new policy goes into effect with the community-wide reopening celebration, Wex Wide Open House—offering tours, entertainment and refreshments to all, noon to 5 pm—and continues from then on.

“As a university-based institution, we are committed to providing the public every opportunity to explore the rich and diverse world of contemporary art,” says Wexner Center Director Sherri Geldin. “We hope that free gallery admission will encourage everyone—frequent visitors and newcomers alike—to experience the center’s dynamic exhibition program.”

To improve on the improvement, the center is also expanding its gallery hours. The gallery will now remain open until 8 pm Thursdays through Saturdays, allowing the public to visit an exhibition before attending a film or a performance at the center.

The center’s new gallery hours will be Tuesday–Wednesday and Sunday, 11 am–6 pm; and Thursday–Saturday, 11 am–8 pm. The gallery is closed on Monday.
