Annual Screening Includes Seldom Seen Footage of Baseball Greats

For the fourth year in a row, the Wexner Center screens Rare Films from the Baseball Hall of Fame to celebrate the opening days of baseball season. This year’s edition screens on Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14 at 7 pm. Included in this year’s program of cinematic treasures is an interview with Cleveland star Al Rosen, footage of the 1955 New York Yankees' tour of Japan, commercials featuring Willie Mays, Yogi Berra, Bob Feller, and Hank Aaron, and much, much more.

Dave Filipi, curator in the Wexner Center’s Film/Video Department and organizer of this screening, will introduce. The program is approximately 120 minutes, and will be held in the Wexner Center Film/Video Theater, 1871 North High St.

Filipi notes: “It’s always a highlight of our film year to present this program. The films are not only fascinating historical documents, but also wonderful reminders of all there is to love about our national pastime.”

Tickets are $7 general public; $5 senior citizens, members, and students, and are available at the Wexner Center Ticket Office or by calling (614) 292-3535.

Special thanks to Ben Harry of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
