Mixed-media artist Suzanne Silver, assistant professor in Ohio State's Department of Art, discusses the relationship of word and image in her recent drawings and assemblages, where unexpected materials are combined to explore the disorder and evasiveness of language. Silver pays homage to the vernacular of signs (theatre marquees, carnival displays, picket signs, trade signs, inscriptions, and incantations) and creates a visual language that is open to multiple readings. Her work is featured in the New Faculty and Visiting Artists exhibition currently on view at Hopkins Hall Gallery.

Presented by Ohio State's Hopkins Hall Gallery & Corridor. Cosponsored by the Wexner Center.
