"The fairy godmother of puppet theatre."—Evening News (Scotland)

Scottish puppeteer Shona Reppe offers a witty contemporary take on the classic fairy tale of Cinderella in this performance for children ages five and up, families, and grownups too. Using an ingenious table top stage, a "Magic Handbag" that transforms Cinderella into the belle of the ball, shadow puppetry, and object theater, Reppe's one-woman show offers humorous commentary on contemporary issues of fame, gender, and class. This Cinderella is not a passive damsel waiting to be rescued by a gallant prince, but a resilient young lady who finds a sense of worth within herself.

Reppe's Cinderella received the Total Theatre Award at the 2002 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has toured Britain, Canada, and the United States.

Presented in collaboration with the Department of Theatre, The Ohio State University.
