A Conversation with Mark Bradford and Aminah Robinson

In this conversation, moderated by Wexner Center Director Sherri Geldin, Mark Bradford and Aminah Robinson trade perspectives on found materials, abstract and representational imagery, and the role and potential of community connections in their work and life as artists.

Mark Bradford draws both inspiration and raw material from the Leimert Park neighborhood of South Central Los Angeles where he lived as a child, worked with his mother in her beauty shop, and maintains his studio in the space that once housed the hair salon. Aminah Brenda Lynn Robinson is equally connected to her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, and the Near East Side neighborhood where she lives. Have your questions ready, since we’ll open the discussion to our audience at the end of the evening.

Please note: The Mark Bradford exhibition itself does not open to the public until Saturday, May 8. Wexner Center members are invited to preview the exhibition at an opening celebration on Friday, May 7.
