Eleanor Antin

As you'll see in this lecture/performance, Eleanor Antin's recent work blends history and fantasy with her trademark humor and wry social commentary. Eleanor Antin's interests encompass a variety of media and styles including performance art, conceptual art, installation, film, and video. She has exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Wadsworth Atheneum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, which featured a retrospective of her 30-year career.

Antin's groundbreaking mixed-media works such as Carving: A Traditional Sculpture (1972) and Recollections of My Life with Diaghilev (1981) are considered classics of postmodern and feminist art. She is an emerita professor of visual arts at the University of California at San Diego.
