Kevin Jerome Everson
Ohio native Kevin Jerome Everson, who has made five feature films and over seventy shorts, is one of the most prolific and remarkable independent filmmakers working today. Among many other honors, he was named one of the"25 New Faces of Independent Film"by<em>Filmmaker Magazine</em>in 2006, has been featured in the Whitney Biennial, and has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Ohio Arts Council. His two-day visit features an afternoon lecture and an evening screening.

In this talk Kevin Jerome Everson presents several of his acclaimed short films.
Many of the films were filmed in Cleveland and Everson's hometown, Mansfield. He'll also discuss how he seeks to explore the lives of working-class African Americans by combining scripted and documentary elements with a keen formalism.
