Sowon Kwon

Artist Sowon Kwon is the recipient of one of this season's Wexner Center Residency Awards in media arts. Today she talks about Average Female (Bibbidi), the third video installment in her ongoing Average Female series. Since the early 1990s, the Korean-born American artist has been making drawings, prints, sculptural reliefs, and video installations that explore ideas of perfection and standardization regarding the female body. Kwon's work has been shown at the Berkeley Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Yokohama Triennale in Japan, the Gwangju Biennale in South Korea, and, most recently, at The Kitchen in New York.
