Join us for a reception to celebrate our latest set of exhibitions—Paul Sietsema and Shimon Attie: MetroPAL.IS. —and hear from the artists themselves. Wexner Center members, Ohio State faculty, staff, and students, and arts enthusiasts from throughout the community are invited to attend.

The celebration begins at 5 PM, as Paul Sietsema and exhibition curator Christopher Bedford lead you through Sietsema’s exhibition while discussing his unique working process, the role of labor in art, and, of course, the works on view in the exhibition.

At 7 PM, Shimon Attie talks about the creation of his video installation Metro.PAL.IS. He’ll share how this project has led to a new direction for his practice and describe its impact on subsequent works.

Enjoy complimentary snacks and a cash bar in the café (6–9 PM) and continue to browse the exhibitions through 9 PM.

Both exhibitions have roots in the Wexner Center’s ongoing interest in supporting contemporary artists in the creation of new works. Paul Sietsema’s show, the most comprehensive to date for the artist, who lives and works in Los Angeles, includes a newly completed film and related projects that represent the culmination of Sietsema’s work supported by a Wexner Center Artist’s Residency Award in visual arts for 2010–11. Shimon Attie’s MetroPAL.IS., an immersive, multiple-channel video installation that takes as its subject the complex and problematic Middle East conflict, was edited and post-produced during Attie’s residency in the Wexner Center’s Film/Video Studio Program in 2010.

Paul Sietsema’s residency and Wexner Center exhibition made possible with support from the Teiger Foundation and the Nimoy Foundation.
