Teacher Tour Night

Thu, Feb 18, 2010 4:30 PM

Join us to explore the center’s new exhibitions and learn about upcoming professional development opportunities for educators. You’ll discuss the works in the galleries and find out how connections can be made between your classroom curriculum and the center’s programming.

Each of the current shows offers intriguing possibilities for teachers and students. Hard Targets considers images of sports and masculine athleticism and so prompts thinking about our culture’s interest in sports stars, teams, and events and about how that interest might reflect and impact ideas about identity and gender. Cyprien Gaillard: Disquieting Landscapes features haunting films and photographs by a young French artist, many of which investigate ambiguous and sometimes conflicting attitudes toward the huge modernist tower blocks that fill so many contemporary cities.

All educators, active and preservice, are invited to attend. Please RSVP by e-mail edweb@wexarts.org or calling (614) 292-6493.
