Welcome Week Student Party and Outdoor Film
featuring Ed Wood (Tim Burton, 1994)
Tue, Sep 22, 2009 7 PM

Students, join us for the Wexner Center's annual Welcome Week party. Enjoy FREE pizza, FREE T-shirts (while they last), an opportunity to win some great prizes, and a FREE movie: Ed Wood with Johnny Depp.

Check out an exhibition of the works of internationally known artist Luc Tuymans, featuring more than 70 exquisite paintings from the last 30 years that touch on historical events, pop culture, and more using imagery from photography, film, and TV. See it here first before it travels across the country and overseas. Galleries are free for students all the time!

Shown Wex Drive-In style (outside on the plaza), Ed Wood is a biopic about a movie director hailed by many as the worst filmmaker ever, and celebrated posthumously for his cinematic ineptitude. Among his classic clunkers are Plan 9 from Outer Space and Glen or Glenda. Tim Burton's affectionate portrait stars Johnny Depp as the quixotic director and covers Wood's golden years, when he provided screen icon Bela Lugosi with his final roles. Also with Martin Landau, Bill Murray, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Patricia Arquette. (If the weather is bad, the movie will screen inside.)

You can also hear about the benefits you enjoy at the Wexner Center, just because you go to school at Ohio State. Besides free gallery admission, they include great discounts on some very cool films, jazz and dance concerts, and theater events, plus a 10% discount in the Wexner Center Store.
