wexLab: Project Fashion Show

Couture week in Paris (or Project Runway) meets thrift store chic, with the added spice of self-discovery and self-expression. We’re encouraging participation by adult/teen or adult/tween teams, related or not, in this Mother’s Day weekend program.

What kind of self-portrait do we generate by the clothes we wear? Want to enhance yours--or take it in a new direction? Using thrift store finds as our raw materials, we will each create a look for an imagined self. We’ll explore who we are with garments and accessories--and on paper with short prose poems and character studies. Got a beef? Got a dream? This wexLab designed by Nancy Kangas is a chance to let it out, creatively. It's also a chance to rechannel free-spending "fashionista" tendencies into the those of a style- and budget-conscious recycling "recessionista."
