Zoom: Family Film Festival

Zoom continues for its 11th year with a fantastic assortment of acclaimed movies and entertaining events for all ages. One mission of Zoom has been to provide diverse and engrossing stories from around the world to central Ohio families. This year’s lineup is our most international yet with a film from each continent—a Zoom first! In addition to the great films, kids and families can enjoy fun and free activities together on Saturday, December 6, with our morning cereal and pajama party, hands-on crafts, and an ice cream social in the afternoon.

Thu, Dec 3, 2009
Fri, Dec 4, 2009
Sat, Dec 5, 2009
Sun, Dec 6, 2009

Whichever Zoom film you come to see, be sure to check out everything else that's going on at the Wex as part of the festival.

The Next Generation
December 1-31

Stop by the Box (our video space, across from the Store) anytime during the weekend to sample varied animations, dramatic narratives, and experimental projects by artists ages 8 to 18. These pieces by the next generation of Ohio filmmakers and video artists were selected for inclusion in the youth division of the 2009 Ohio Short Film and Video Showcase.

Art Projects and Tours
Sat-Sun, Dec 5-6

Make your own flipbook, color pictures, and play video games designed by kids in summer workshops at the Wex. You can also visit an "autumn gourd and squash petting zoo" from Wayward Seed Farms (in the café area on Saturday afternoon) or take a family-friendly tour of our galleries. (Admission to the exhibition is free for kids under 18 and with a ticket to any Zoom film on the same day. Ask for your gallery badges when you get your film tickets.)

Video Game Land
Sat, Dec 5 |11 AM–7 PM
Sun, Dec 6 |12–3:30 PM

Play original games created by students in last year's Summer Kids and Teen Arts Fusion workshops. You'll be able to play selected games on laptops at this "game land" in the café area of the lower level. (The games were chosen from over 40 that the kids developed in the Make Video Game classes in 2009.)

Saturday Morning Cereal and Pajama Party
Sat, Dec 5 | 9:15-10 AM

Kick start your day at the festival by pouring yourself a bowl at the cereal bar provided by Whole Foods Market. Kids in pajamas receive a surprise with their cereal.

Ice Cream Social
Sat, Dec 5 | 3-5 PM

Now it's time to put something fresh and cold on your plate. Sample an assortment of flavors from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, a Columbus favorite.

Need a Break?
Take a break in our café, Cam's on Campus, where you'll find coffee and pastries on Saturday morning and full lunches, with child-friendly items on the menu, 11 AM-4 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Don't forget to visit the Wexner Center Store, for toys, gifts, and books for all ages.
