Senior Curator of Exhibitions
Over the past 15 years, as Director of Exhibitions at CCAD’s Beeler Gallery and James Cohan Gallery, NY, and now as Senior Curator of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Michael Goodson has organized single artist exhibitions by Charles Atlas; Fred Tomaselli, Jessica Jackson Hutchins, Donald Moffett, Diana Al-Hadid, Robert Smithson, Carrie Moyer, Yinka Shonibare, Leonardo Drew, Trenton Doyle Hancock, and Roxy Paine, among many others.
Group shows during this time include:
Inherent Structure which, among other artists, included Laura Owens, Stanley Whitney, Sam Gilliam, Carrie Moyer, Thomas Scheibitz, Rebecca Morris, Kevin Beasley and Arturo Herrera.
Gray Matters featuring artists Amy Sillman, Michelle Grabner, Mickalene Thomas, Kara Walker, Arlene Shechet, Roni Horn, and Marlene Dumas, among others.
My Crippled Friend which included works by Mary Heilmann, Richard Aldrich and Cheryl Donegan, Chris Martin and Katharina Grosse and others.
Sitter, including works by Nan Goldin, Catherine Opie, Dawoud Bay, Rineka Dijkstra, Robert Beck, and Leigh Ledare,
WALL which, among others, Included Sol LeWitt, Jennifer Steinkamp, Nari Ward, Jim Hodges, Sarah Cain and Karin Sander.
Between 2002 and 2011, Goodson taught sculpture, performance and installation art at Hunter College, NY. He has also taught both studio classes and art history at Wittenberg University, Wight State University and The University of Dayton. He holds an M.F.A. in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
