Director of Education

Casto leads a talented and diverse team of educators who engage campus and community members in cross-disciplinary explorations of the contemporary visual, performing, and media arts.

She serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, co-founded the Arts and Cultural Educators (ACE) Collective of Columbus, co-founded the city-wide Surge collaboration of after-school teen program providers, serves as Adjunct Faculty in OSU’s Department of Art Education, and received the Kress Fellowship in Museum Education at the Clark Art Institute in 2015. Casto was the curator of Kerry James Marshall’s 2007-08 residency project and exhibition at the Wexner Center. She serves as the staff liaison for artist Michael Mercil’s long-term projects examining the ecological and historical roots of the university. In 2016, Casto initiated a city-wide project with Los Angeles artists David Allen Burns and Austin Young of Fallen Fruit which resulted in the establishment of two public fruit parks in Columbus. Casto was previously Associate Curator of Education at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut.

Casto received her master's degree in Art Education from the Ohio State University in 1993 and was in the first group of docents to tour the newly-opened Wexner Center. She holds an undergraduate degree in Art History from Oberlin College.
