Blinged Out

On Saturday night here at the Wex, it was all about BLING. More than 300 attended Bling Ball, a fundraising bash organized by the center's 12 1/4 Circle. The outfits were suitably outrageous—from head-to-toe silver, to bright pink wigs, to a giant brass pig "necklace," to sequined lapels and other sparkly accessories of all kinds. As guests sashayed down the stairs and onto the red carpet, glittery emcee Vivi Velour heckled guests and doled out witty one-liners. The revelry continued on into the galleries and the Performance Space, with food, drink, DJs, dancing, and Brooklyn's Bling Kong, who put on an over-the-top live show (with cheerleaders). At the end of the night, White Castle handed out 1,500 slyders at the exits. In the words of the incomparable Vivi Velure, it was "all kinds of fun."
