Chris Marker in Filmmaker Magazine

May 07, 2007

The Spring issue of Filmmaker magazine (the one with Sarah Polley on the cover) highlights our upcoming Chris Marker photography show, entitled Chris Marker: Staring Back. Organized by media arts director Bill Horrigan, the show is bound to attract more and more national and international attention once it opens on May 11. Filmmaker ties our gallery show in with the soon-to-be-released Criterion DVD of Marker's La Jet?©e and Sans Soleil. We'll be screening a relatively new 35mm print of La Jet?©e on June 29 and 30 before a screening of Godard's Two or Three Things I Know About Her. We'll also be screening Marker's Sixth Face of the Pentagon and Loneliness of the Long Distance Singer on May 23.

The issue also has a number of articles and interviews on upcoming films at the Wexner Center including Day Night Day Night (July), and Zoo and Killer of Sheep (September). We hope to have Charles Burnett on-hand to introduce at least one of the Killer of Sheep screenings if his schedule permits. The Filmmaker interview can be found here. There is also a profile of Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis director Mary Jordan which we screened back in February. For the other articles you'll have to pick up a copy of the magazine the old-fashioned way! – Dave Filipi, Curator, Film/Video
