The Quay Brothers and Director of Film/Video David Filipi onstage at the world premiere of Unmistaken Hands: Ex Voto F.H.

Wex film fans no doubt remember the last time the Quay Brothers paid us a visit—they were here in 2013 for the world premiere of their short film Unmistaken Hands: Ex Voto F.H., which was completed in our Film/Video Studio as part of their Wexner Center Artist Residency Award. The film focused on the work and life of writer Felisberto Hernández, often called “the father of magic realism,” and was a haunting and gorgeous work, in line with the best films the Quays have produced. So it’s exciting to say that it’s now available in a beautiful new Blu-ray set from the good folks at Zeitgeist Films. The comprehensive collection features 15 of their astonishingly detailed and composed films (including their classic Street of Crocodiles and an acclaimed new documentary about the brothers by Christopher Nolan), new essays about their long and influential career, and the no doubt fascinating (and comprehensive) Quay Brothers Dictionary. We’re honored to have had the Quay Brothers as residency artists and to support their inimitable work, and it’s a joy to share the news that you can now add the film to your collection.
