Dave Filipi and Guy Maddin"Cinema is a nation in and of itself." —Matt Porterfield

Recently, the Wex had the pleasure of visits from two filmmakers with prior connections to our Film/Video Studio program and strong creative ties to their respective hometowns: Guy Maddin of Winnipeg and Matt Porterfield (Soller's Point) of Baltimore. Both filmmakers also have recent work about a city that’s not their own and each of these projects has been seen at the Wex. For this WexCast, Film/Video Director Dave Filipi talks with Guy about his San Francisco-centric film The Green Fog, and Associate Film/Video Curator Chris Stults interviews Matt about his Berlin-based narrative short, Take What You Can Carry.
