Rock Hudson, Gina Lollobrigida, and a gorgeous Portofino villa star in this light-hearted romantic farce.

Hudson stars as a rich American businessman who spends each September vacationing at his Italian villa with his beautiful holiday-time mistress, played by Lollobrigida. When he arrives early one summer, he is shocked to discover that his staff has been running his mansion as a hotel in his absence for years. The current guests are a group of American teenage girls, while their college student suitors camp on the grounds. Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee portray the most amorous youngsters—and fell in love on the set. As Hudson's character strives to protect the morals of the young couple, he sabotages his own relationship, and a hilarious battle of the sexes ensues across both generations.

Famed cinematographer William Daniels is responsible for the exquisite location footage. Robert Mulligan, known for his sensitive direction of young actors, went on to make To Kill a Mockingbird, his most famous picture, the next year. (112 mins., 35mm)
