New Restoration

(Derek Jarman, 1991)

Sat, May 12, 2018 5:30 PM

See one of the landmark films of New Queer Cinema—a key movement of the early 1990s—in a glorious new restoration. Derek Jarman’s postmodern take on the Christopher Marlowe play follows King Edward II (Steven Waddington), whose obsession with lover Piers Gaveston (Andrew Tiernan) leads to their violent downfall. With Jarman muse Tilda Swinton as the spurned Queen Isabella and a rare cinematic turn by Annie Lennox! (87 mins., XDCP)

Presented in conjunction with The Flyover Fest, a three-day arts festival featuring literature, film, music, panel discussions, and more May 10–12.
