The Gift is a sobering wake-up call to anyone who thinks the AIDS epidemic is over. One of the most controversial films at recent festivals worldwide, The Gift is a revealing look at the gay subculture of men deliberately seeking HIV infection by having unprotected sex, and of HIV-positive men passing on the virus via barebacking (called "gift givers").
