“A dangerous amount of fun.… Get ready to be bewildered.”—Evan Kindley, Notcoming.com Imagine a Japanese version of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead. Mix in Saturday morning television of the seventies (say, Sid and Marty Krofft). Then pile on mind-bending lo-fi special effects. A certified cult classic, House is the surreal tale of a schoolgirl who takes a group of friends to visit her ailing aunt in the country, only to encounter geisha ghosts, bloodthirsty pianos, and a demonic housecat. Yes, really. (87 mins., 35mm). One of the only short films bizarre enough to show with House, local filmmaker Mike Olenick’s Spaceboy is a stylish remake of a 1973 sci-fi romance directed by Renate Druks, a friend of Anaïs Nin and Kenneth Anger. Olenick is also an editor in the Wexner Center’s Art & Tech studio. (7 mins., video) Come early to stock up on DVDs of films classic and kooky and save 20% on all Criterion Collection titles during a special sale (April 2–4) in the Wexner Center Store. We’ve ordered the House shirt too. Attending this event? Let your friends know and RSVP on Facebook. The original trailer for House: House
