I Am Not a Witch

(Rungano Nyoni, 2017)

A young boy.

“It’s rare and exhilarating that a new filmmaker arrives on the scene so sure of herself and so willing to take bold, counter-intuitive chances.”—Jessica Kiang, Variety

Don’t miss the debut feature from writer-director Rungano Nyoni—an often-humorous, slyly feminist social critique that tells the story of an eight-year-old Zambian girl accused of being a witch (after a minor accident occurs in her presence). Like all women accused of witchcraft in her region, the child is sent to a “witch camp” where the accused are held captive and forced to serve as manual labor, act as tourist attractions, and even use their “power” as needed. (98 mins., DCP)

Please note: on August 3 special event parking ($5 cash only) is available in Ohio Union South Garage.
