ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus

Columbus Premiere

A person performs, cane in hand, in an auditorium. In the background, a person plays a piano next to a line of people sitting and watching the performer.

Presented in partnership with Art Possible Ohio for ReelAbilities Film Festival Columbus, imperfect chronicles a group of artists who live and perform with disabilities.

This documentary follows a company of actors with various disabilities—from a spinal cord injury and Parkinson’s disease to cerebral palsy and autism—as they attempt an unprecedented version of the beloved musical Chicago. Capturing the raw, honest stories of the actors both inside the production process and outside in their everyday lives, imperfect reveals a rare behind-the-scenes look at talented artists who push to succeed as professional performers, no matter the obstacles. The film challenges stale notions of disability and affirms the human condition in all its forms. (78 mins., DCP)
