Mad Ladders

(2015)

May 1, 2017–May 31, 2017

This recent work by experimental filmmaker, visual artist, and Artist Residency Award recipient Michael Robinson (Circle in the Sand) offers a pop-culture fever dream that mixes mythology, religion, and footage from 1980s and 90s American Music Awards telecasts. An offscreen narrator recounting visions of the End Times and an 8-bit remix of Tori Amos provide the soundtrack to Robinson’s kaleidoscopic montage of curtains, geometric set pieces, and unveiled pop idols.
