A visually innovative world cinema classic, Eisenstein’s October depicts the events that led up to the 1917 Russian Revolution and founding of the Soviet state. Eisenstein was commissioned by the young government to create a cinematic celebration of the Bolshevik Revolution’s 10th anniversary. Held in partnership with Ohio State’s Center for Slavic and East European Studies, this screening marking the revolution’s 100th anniversary is introduced by Yana Hashamova, professor in Ohio State’s Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures. (103 mins., digital video)

Cosponsored by Ohio State’s Center for Historical Research, Department of History, Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures, and Film Studies Program.
