Overnight

Mark Brian Smith and Tony Montana, 2003

wex grid image fill

Overnight tells the hilarious and terrible true story of Boston bartender Troy Duffy, who in 1997 became an "overnight" sensation when Miramax's Harvey Weinstein gave him the green light to direct his own feature, The Boondock Saints, and have his own band do the soundtrack. From that point on, tragedy was all but assured as Duffy's inflated ego ran rampant over everyone surrounding him. Filmmaker Mark Brian Smith and writer Tony Montana were present to capture Duffy's meteoric rise and fall. Their documentary slides subtly from biopic to disaster film, offering a spectacular crash course in how not to have a career in the movies. (81 mins.)
