Roger Beebe

In person

Silhouettes against projected screen

Columbus-based filmmaker and Ohio State Department of Art Associate Professor Roger Beebe regularly shows his work around the globe, including such unlikely places as the McMurdo Station in Antarctica and the CBS Jumbotron in New York’s Times Square. He returns to the Wexner Center with a program of works both new and old before he sets off on another exciting national tour.

Among the brand-new projects you’ll experience in this program are SOUNDFILM, a six-projector, 16mm film performance exploring the history of sound recording; Amazonia, which explores the retailer Amazon’s regional distribution centers and this present moment in labor history; the just-completed, self-explanatory The Comic Sans Video; and an abstract, six-projector, 16mm piece with imagery made from black-and-white laser printers. Plan for other surprise films, a lively discussion, and in short, a memorable evening! (program approx. 80 mins.; video, 16mm, and Super 8mm)
