Join the Wex and Belgian artist Sven Augustijnen for a screening of his powerful documentary Spectres. The film examines Belgium’s complicity in the 1961 killing of Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of the Congo, just a year after he helped his country gain its independence from Belgium. Augustijnen reflects on Belgium’s colonial history and the ghosts that remain a part of the nation’s psyche, even today. (104 mins., DCP)
