Jean-Luc Godard and the Rolling Stones shape Sympathy for the Devil. Plus an inside look at a musical outsider, Jandek. Second feature start time: 8:45 pm. Jean-Luc Godard's infamous meditation on sixties' counterculture, Sympathy for the Devil intercuts footage of such revolutionaries as The Black Panthers with shots of the Rolling Stones in the studio working out "Sympathy for the Devil." Godard's original cut was titled One Plus One. (Jean-Luc Godard, 1970; 92 mins.) Jandek on Corwood examines the life and work of the reclusive outsider musician Jandek, who has self-released 35 albums since 1978. Jandek has never performed live and never grants interviews, but his music—described by some as haunting and others as aggravating—moved Spin magazine to proclaim him one of "the ten most interesting musicians of the 1980s." The film is introduced by Columbus Dispatch music critic Jerry Dannemiller. (Chad Friedrichs, 2003; 88 mins.)
