The Wex is thrilled to introduce Unorthodocs., a new festival celebrating the inspiring, illuminating, and intriguing possibilities of nonfiction filmmaking. Often classified as its own self-contained genre, documentaries have as many subcategories as fiction filmmaking (essay films, observational docs, issue films, and the increasingly prominent hybrid fiction/documentary, to name just a few). In the midst of this new golden age for the form, and with more people watching a wider range of documentaries than ever, Unorthodocs. showcases the art of this adventurous field while offering the opportunity to meet and hear from today’s most exciting practitioners!
