This screening features films from Turkey and Angola. Second feature start time: 9:15 pm. The stylish Turkish comedy What's a Human Anyway? places a recent amnesiac in the center of a large cast of characters and an increasingly complicated plot about "stolen" jewelry. (Reha Erdem, Turkey, 2004; 128 mins.) Thirty years of civil war had paralyzed filmmaking in Angola, but recently the assured and powerful film Hollow City emerged from the country's recent relative stability. The film unsentimentally reveals the life of a young boy on the run in a war-torn country.
