Pantalone's Luna of the Tree is an enchanting musical picture book brought to life with onstage musicians, animated images, and an actor/narrator to tell its captivating story. This program is a collaboration with Ohio State's School of Music and the Columbus Children's Choir. The story, based on a Slovakian folktale, tells of a brave young prince, a mysterious tree, and a magical sprite named Luna. The show has entranced young audiences throughout Europe and even on Broadway. The Wexner Center is proud to introduce it and its companion piece, My Heart Is a Penguin, for their first U.S. performances outside New York City. School groups are invited to attend both Luna of the Tree and My Heart Is a Penguin on the same day or either show on its own. (Combined running time is approximately 90 mins. including an intermission.) The seating capacity for My Heart Is a Penguin is very limited. Teachers are advised to make reservations for their classes as early as possible if they wish to attend both performances or My Heart Is a Penguin alone. Advance Reservation Required These performances are free for students, teachers, and adult chaperones, but reservations are required. Make reservations for school-day performances by calling the education info line at (614) 292-6493 or e-mailing edweb@wexarts.org
