Even as a student at UCLA, director Penelope Spheeris (DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION, WAYNE'S WORLD) displayed a level of confidence and creativity rare in such a young filmmaker. Tonight (Thu) at 7 PM, see a program of shorts that includes six of Spheeris's student films, as well as NO USE WALKIN' WHEN YOU CAN STROLL (1998), a humorous and sweet portrait of her one-time carny, ten-times-married mother.
