"Gleefully subversive."—Time Out New York "House of No More takes theater into the 21st century by marrying art house film with classic theater," reports Next magazine. "It's a 3D movie you won't need glasses to view." Co-commissioned by the Wexner Center, the latest production from this young, media-savvy performance ensemble cleverly balances lo-fi values and seductive, tongue-in-cheek sleekness. You'll find your attention split by dizzying delights, as you simultaneously track live action and watch a multiscreen videoscape, created by the actors and used to illuminate a twisted tale of obsession-in-overdrive. In this supercharged soap opera, a troubled mom searching for her missing daughter enters a maze of deceit and lies. The hilarious cast employs kaleidoscopic multitasking, precise choreography, and electrifying sonic blasts—plus "green screen" superimposition effects produced using digital home video cameras. Tumultuous, ridiculous, and mind-bending, House of No More reveals the savagely funny techno-savant sensibility that has made Big Art Group a hit of the international festival scene. production/support credits Coproduced by Festival d'Automne, TheatrÈ G‚ronne, Maison de la Culture de CrÈteil, Hebbel Am Ufer, Caserne Mirabeau, and Teatro di RomañVie dei Festival with commissioning support from the Wexner Center for the Arts, Performance Space 122, and the National Performance Network Creation Fund.
