Don Byron Ivey-Divey Trio featuring Jason Moran and Billy Hart

wex grid image fill

"Everything here is intellectually satisfying and emotionally stimulating."--Stereo Review Jazz clarinetist and composer Don Byron fronts one of his finest musical projects with this bass-less trio featuring pianist Jason Moran (whose debut here with his own Bandwagon trio knocked out jazz devotees) and master drummer Billy Hart. Their free-flowing exchanges craft smart, sophisticated, adventurous music and make the concert a sure highlight on our jazz schedule. The name "Ivey-Divey" comes from a hipster phrase coined by sax legend Lester Young and also references the then-radical lineup of Young's own bass-less trio (with Nat "King" Cole on piano and Buddy Rich on drums) of the 1940s. For a preview of the show, a sure highlight of the jazz season, check out the CD Ivey-Divey (Blue Note), voted "Record of the Year" by JazzTimes.
