"Brazil's leading ambassadors of contemporary dance...showing off the superb skills of the dancers, arguably the best on the planet." —Globe and Mail (Toronto)

This electrifying Brazilian dance company captivates you with stunningly sexy physicality, dynamic virtuosity, and rich visual flair. Grupo Corpo creates a vibrant and seamless blend of ballet's grace, modern dance's verve, and the hip-swiveling exuberance of Carnival sambas and their Afro-Brazilian roots. You'll see the U.S. premiere of Breu (“darkness”), the ensemble's newest work, which is set to the music of Brazilian singing sensation Lenine. Also on the program is Benguelê, which the company describes as a celebration of African culture and its influences in Brazilian culture.

Founded in 1975 and now led by choreographer Rodrigo Pederneiras, Grupo Corpo won raves with its Columbus debut at the Wexner Center in 2002. Don't miss this chance to experience its "striking power and originality," "impeccable delivery," and "searing sensuality elegantly under control" (Le Monde, Paris).

Head to the Wexblog to view a clip of a Brazilian TV spot with the company.

Free parking will be available in the Ohio Union and Arps garages on Saturday, March 22.

Presented by the Wexner Center in association with BalletMet Columbus.

Grupo Corpo is sponsored by Petrobras.
