Bajofondo Makes Local Debut with Latin Dance Party

Fri, Mar 06, 2009

“Exhilarating...from first note to last.”—Village Voice on Bajofondo’s new release  Mar Dulce

Bajofondo, an eight-member avant-tango ensemble that incorporates contemporary electronica and hip hop rhythms, will play the Wexner Center Performance Space on Friday, April 3 at 9 PM in a dance party show. Spearheaded by composer, guitarist and singer Gustavo Santaolalla (best known in this country for his scores for the films Brokeback Mountain, 21 Grams and Amores Perros), this superb Argentine-Uruguayan musical collective summons the controlled fire of contemporary tango and mixes it with Latin electronica for the new millennium. The group is on its first U.S. tour to follow up on its most recent release, Mar Dulce.

Popular local DJ Ray Ritmo opens the show with a set sure to get the audience moving.
