Ali Pretty, artistic director of Kinetika Arts in London, speaks about her work as a carnival artist.

Ali is one of the featured artists in the exhibition Midnight Robbers: The Artists of Notting Hill Carnival, currently running at Ohio State’s new Urban Arts Space in downtown Columbus. In addition to her winning designs for Notting Hill, Ali has created costumes for the opening ceremonies at London’s Millennium Dome, the Atlanta Olympics, and the Trinidad Carnival. At this evening’s talk, she’ll screen two short films of her work, which look at carnival projects in Kolkata (India) and Beijing.

Cosponsored by Ohio State’s College of the Arts, Department of Theatre, and the Mershon Center for International Security Studies.
